GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Carpet recycling gains traction in region
A recycling milestone unfolded with the old green and yellow carpets from

square yards of flooring were trucked to CarpetCycle, a carpet and ceiling
tile recycler based in Elizabeth, Union County.

Atlantic County, NJ Kicks Off Carpet Recycling Program
Starting November 15, 2007, the Atlantic County Utilities Authority will
be accepting residential carpet for recycling. Along with conserving landfill
space, carpet recycling offers other environmental benefits because most
carpet is a petroleum-based product. Carpet recycling programs can save
more than 700,000 barrels of oil per year and conserve 4.4 trillion BTUs
of energy. With less energy being used to produce new carpet, air pollutants
and greenhouse gas emissions are being lowered.
